THE 6 NC REGIMENT WAS ORGANIZED IN MAY 1861 AT CAMP ALAMANCE , NEAR COMPANY SHOPS (NOW BURLINGTON NC) THEY SPENT THE SUMMER AND WINTER 1861-62 IN THE DUMFRIES VA AREA THIS BUCKLE WAS FOUND THERE MANY YEARS AGO IT HAS NO HOOKS AS MOST THE FACE IS ONE OF THE BEST THAT I HAVE SEEN NICE DARK GREEN PATINE AND THERE IS STILL SOME OF THE BLACK ENAMEL AROUND THE EDGES AND LETTERS THIS PLATE CAME FROM THE LOUIS LEIGH COLLECTION AND IS THE NICEST ONE I HAVE HAD OR SEEN A COA FROM LEWIS WILL COME WITH THIS BUCKLE
